Jessica Goss, my best friend of over 25 years, is facing her third battle with breast cancer and needs all the help she can get. Please read her story below. Any donations and prayers are greatly appreciated.

What's MBC you might ask. We'll get to that later!
Jessica Goss is a fighter! She hasn't lost her smile, never given up, and tries to puts the needs of others before her own. She has gone her whole life keeping her head held high and marching to the beat of her own drum. But sometimes life throws you for a loop and the universe likes to challenge the strongest of people. In October 2013, Jessica got the news that no woman should ever have to hear, she was diagnosed with ER+ Breast Cancer.

After undergoing 12 rounds of Chemotherapy and 28 rounds of Radiation, multiple surgeries including a double Mastectomy, Full Hysterectomy, Oophorectomy, lat flap to replace her radiation-damaged skin, and what felt like a million doctor’s appointments in between, she courageously battled cancer and it eventually looked like they may have succeeded.

Then, in October 2019, after finding a lump above her collarbone, a follow-up appointment showed that her story isn’t over yet, and the cancer had returned. Stage 4 metastatic ER+ Breast Cancer (MBC) spread to her axillary lymph nodes and behind her collarbone. She was now on daily Chemo pills, for the rest of her life in addition to daily hormone blocking pills since her cancer feeds on Estrogen.

Now, here we are in March of 2023 and we have just received news that her Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer has spread to her bones. We currently know the cancer is in her 5th rib on her left side and we are awaiting a full bone scan in the coming weeks to determine if it spread any further. Her new routine includes continuing to take the Chemo in pill form again taken in the same cycle as before. Unfortunately the new hormone receptor blocker is a 2 cheek shot, yikes, once a month. (Yes, the lower cheeks) We are devastated by this news but we will continue to push on. She also has osteoarthritis in both knees and Meniere's disease. Who doesn't love a spinning room?!

Jessica has two children, Gage and Lucian. She and her husband Michael met at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort where he worked as a lifeguard. He is an Army veteran and currently works as a Field Services Manager for Accucode, Inc in Colorado.

Her eldest, Gage, stayed behind in KY when they moved to Colorado and is currently living with his Fiance. She misses him very much. Gage has a love of automobiles and his dream is to become an automotive engineer.

Lucian is 16, a junior in high school, and has dreams of becoming a Civil Engineer. He was accepted to a STEM school and hopes to attend the Colorado School of Mines.

Her boys and husband are the reasons that she fights to survive for as long as she can. Oh, and she’s holding out for Grandbabies!! But not too soon!

Jessica is currently unable to work (she gets sick easily), but she does crafting from home (Scrunchies, Blankets, Slap Bracelets, Neck Coolers). She tries to attend as many craft fairs as she can, physically, to bring in money for the family. Most of this money goes to medical bills, deductibles, co-pays, etc)
She is also a Christian, who loves God. She fights this battle every day with Faith!

She worked as a CNA at the Masonic Home of Shelbyville, where she worked in the rehabilitation hall of the Nursing Home. She was heartbroken when she had to leave this fulfilling job behind.

Jessica is not the kind of woman to give up on life, her husband, or children. She’s going to keep fighting, it’s in her DNA to be a fighter. Her diagnosis is considered terminal but her life expectancy is not absolute. The Dr says it could be anywhere from several months to 5 years. It will depend on how she reacts to the treatment and how long it takes to spread, where it spreads next, and of course, hope that medicine improves even further in the near future. She will have scans every three months to keep an eye on it. She’s not giving up, and she wants to make sure that when she has to leave her family, she can leave them with some great memories.

The primary purpose of this GoFundMe is to help fund additional medical expenses not covered by insurance (Medications, Physical Therapy, Imaging, Alternative Medicine, etc) and to get started on a more holistic lifestyle. The other reason for this GoFundMe is to fund a bucket list to give her a chance to build some stories and memories. Her bucket list is below. It contains some of the things she would like to do to cement her memory in the lives of those who love her. Pictures of these will be uploaded and shared so you can see what your donations are helping her to do. All with a mask and a little bottle of 91% rubbing alcohol at the ready!

Her bucket list includes: an Alaskan cruise, "Off" broadway musical, a concert or two, and other fun activities with the boys so they can have great lasting memories. Additionally, to help her husband get her a house, a dream he has had for a very long time, and the ability to visit with family and friends that live far away.
