Hello,  

I'm Kari. I am the proud mother of a six and four year old, Matthew and Maya. I will be married to my best friend, Kevin,  for six years this coming August. 

Although Kevin is only 29 years old he has spent the past year and a half in hospital beds and emergency rooms. As a family we have endured the hardship of my husband's heart condition.

What was first diagnosed as atrial fibrillation turned out to be a much more serious issue. The operation that treated the atrial fib created a blockage which led to pulmonary vein stenosis.  During this time, Kevin was in and out of hospitals for weeks at a time. 

In an effort to fix these blockages, my husband underwent three operations and one open heart procedure, to place three stents into the heart. 

We all thought the stents would fix my husband's ailing condition but we were proved wrong when he began coughing up blood on a consistent basis. After returning to the ICU a few more times, we're now aware that Kevin needs a heart and lung transplant. 

This has been a long journey with many more questions than answers and now we are left with the last possibility to aid his condition and give my family back our normal lives. 

My husband has not been able to hold a job since his health problems surfaced. The medical bills have been mounting and a single income keeps us afloat.  

Although we have been tested we remain strong and united. I appreciate all the prayers, love and support we've received. Know that any donation is greatly appreciated by me and my cherished family.
