THANK YOU ALL!!! I just received confirmation of the order today.
"David L Parker Jr.
DEC 17 1967 + MAY 3 2012
Loving husband & father
Never once forgotten
Adventurous, thoughtful &
clever, he is commemorated
knowing solace."
My dad was the kind of guy that people can't help but remember after meeting just once... the kind of guy who always had a great story to tell because he truly lived his life to the fullest, taking advantage of every opportunity he had to liven up a room and leave a lasting impression. If Dave Parker was around nobody was bored. The only thing he cared about in life was the happiness of his friends & family, and making sure they knew how much they meant to him. He never had much in the way of material things because he put his efforts towards memories with those close to him instead. I remember once when I was young I asked him why he always left his car door unlocked... "if somebody is trying to break into this then they need whatever's in here more than I do & they can have it". He was full of energy and would rather be up, out and about, than be sitting around. Then he developed a rare form of adult-onset muscular dystrophy which robbed him of being so active in the last years of his life. He had a great sense of humor, and kept his high spirits, referring to himself as 'handi-capable' & oftentimes telling me 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger'. His life was cut short at 44 when he completed a long, painful battle with MD on May 3rd in 2012 with a rich life, full of friends & family. It has been 3 years, and while my family has more than enough to remember him by, we still haven't been able to place a memorial at his final resting place. We need $2,000 for a plaque with some kind words & his name so that his friends & family have a place to visit. I am asking for anything you can spare to help us reach this goal... My dad was a strong believer that 'giving never made anyone poor' and would always be the first to offer his help to those in need... while material things never mattered to him, I know that by finally being able to give him a memorial it will help ease the pain of his loss for those who love him, and doing what you can to help anyone in need is what he taught me matters the most. My goal is to help everyone who was touched by my dad's life & in need of a place to go remember... Thank you for helping my family reach that goal.
