Give Oliver a fighting chance!

Last year, I adopted 2 of the most precious kittens at the shelter near me. I already have my hands full with my senior cat with cancer and wasn’t planning on adopting any more pets. But when the shelter told me they were mistreated, I couldn’t find it in my heart to leave them since the shelter was at full capacity. I agreed to foster one of them, but then the shelter told me the two kittens were a bonded pair.

The first few weeks, they were scared to even move. They were also sickly. I constantly had to take them back to the vet at the shelter to treat them. Before I knew it, I had 2 little demons running through my place. I had them for a month before I realized they were bonded to me and loved them too much, so I adopted the 2 adorable monsters.

This March, Oliver (the black kitten) and Sofia (the grey kitten) turned 1! I was so excited and happy.

Unfortunately, this week, Oliver’s health took a turn for the worst. He stopped eating, going to the bathroom, became lethargic, and was having trouble breathing. I rushed him to the emergency vet in despair at 1 am. They needed to do blood tests, x-rays, and surgery to rule out ingestion of a foreign object. They didn’t find anything in the exploratory surgery. He was diagnosed with a viral ileus. I had no idea what that was, which was stressful in itself. The uncertainty of treatment, survival outcome, the fear of losing Oliver, and Sofia losing her brother was unbearable.

My baby Oliver was hospitalized for 2 days. He was sent home with a cone and 5 different medications for around the clock. He is still recovering, while on a prescription diet and medications. His stitches will take 6 weeks to fully heal, and he has follow-up appointments.

In order to give Oliver a fighting chance, I had to take on a large debt. Oliver, Sofia, and I would be eternally grateful for your support in overcoming these financially difficult times.
