Michael's Road to Recovery

Posted by Mike's sister-in-law, Katie Hansen.
On Sunday, May 3rd, at about 1:30 am, Angie woke up to what sounded like a yell. Thinking maybe it was one of the boys having a bad dream, she got up to check and see where the noise came from. She found Mike, who had fallen asleep on the couch, convulsing on the living room floor in a violent seizure. EMS talked Angie through mouth-to-mouth as he began to aspirate and turn blue. Angie was supposed to be gone for a girls' weekend, but it didn't work out and she decided to stay home, which allowed her to be there to save Michael's life that night (Miracle #1). Amidst the chaos of Mike's seizure, Angie's panic, the lights, sirens, and police/firefighters/EMT's in and out of the house, Mike and Angie's 6 and 3-year-old did not wake up once. God plugged their little ears and protected them from this traumatic event. (Miracle #2)
Michael's stay at the hospital quickly revealed a mass on the motor strip of his brain. His amazing neurosurgeon removed about 90% of the tumor on Wednesday morning, and the surgeon was extremely pleased with the outcome.
Results from the biopsy of the mass have determined that the tumor is a Stage 2 Astrocytoma, which is slow-growing, and may not require radiation. Mike and Angie will meet with an oncologist this week to discuss prognosis and treatment options, but we are prayerful and positive about the road ahead. We are certain that God is good all the time, and all the time, God is good!
However, Mike's week-long stay at the hospital, tests, treatments, appointments and medications will add up quickly, and Mike's road to recovery will be a much smoother one with your help, support, and prayers.
Any and all donations, however big or small, will be so greatly appreciated by Mike, Angie, the boys, and the rest of the family. We truly appreciate you!
Please share this with your friends and loved ones--you can never have too many people praying!
