Phoenix the Shar Pei Vet Fund
Donation protected
Those of you who know me, know that Phoenix is a huge part of my life. He is not just a neat looking dog, he is my child, he is my friend that has got me though some of the toughest times over the last four years, he is always there, he is always happy and ready for an adventure. Our latest adventure has brought us back to North Carolina and brought a special person into our lives. Denise has taken Phoenix in as her own, and loves him just as I do.
Phoenix was admitied to the Carolina Veterinary Specialists hospital in Charlotte on New Years after having a episode with Shar Pei Fever, a condition that causes swelling and high fever. After visiting his primary vet on Monday he was showing signs of recovery, but by Thursday the fever had came back and the swelling got much worse in a different part of the body. His left front leg and his chest had become so swollen that they ruptured and begain to leak fluid and blood. The veterinarians have tried to stabilize the swelling and infection but the skin has not responded. His skin on his leg and chest has started to die and fall off. At this point it looks like he could loose 80% of his skin on his leg and 50% or more of his skin on his chest. What that means is A LOT of skin graphs after all the skin has fallen off. Phoenix will need 3 to 6 months of care after that.
(Phoenix is in great spirits with all of this going on, he has never stopped wagging his tail and being excited to see us. WE CAN'T GIVE UP ON HIM WHEN HE HASN'T GIVEN UP HIMSELF)
We are being told that this can get Extreamly expensive and more than what we can handle finacially. We have exhausted our credit and cash. Phoenix, Denise, and I are HUMBLY asking for your help for his treatment!!
The donations that are given will be used for his treatments that will include: Hospital bills, Specialists, Skin Graphs, Wound Treatment, and any Medication that he will need.
He is already spent three days in the hospital at this point, and doesn't look like he will be coming home soon. We are needing the funds as soon as posible so we can assure the hospital we can move forward with treatment. If we can not continue to pay the deposits for treatment then we must consider options that we wont have Phoenix with us anymore.
Today (Sunday) we got all of this news and already thought the worse. We decide that we would go say goodbye to our baby boy because we could not even come close to paying for his treatments that were quickly mounting up, but when we saw him and he saw us the light in his eyes was still there and he jumped up in the kennel with his tail wagging like crazy. Denise and I looked at each other and knew our baby wanted our help and doesn't want to give up yet. So we decided we would fight for him and do something we have never done. We are asking for your help Friends, Family, Fellow animal lovers, and any one else who may see this that wants to help a Strong, Sweet Shar Pei kick the ass of this sickness. If you can help please do, if you can not help please send your thoughts his way and ours.
Words will not be able to express Phoenix's appreciation of your help. Denise and I will be forever greatful and humble! Thank You
