Susan Douglas was diagnosed with cancer on May 16th, 2025. She began losing feeling in her feet, and by May 22nd, she had lost feeling from the waist down and was admitted to the University of Michigan. On May 24th, Susan underwent emergency surgery on her spinal cord as the cancer had become metastatic, meaning it spread to the lungs, spine, bone, liver, and all lymph nodes leading to every organ. She is still unable to walk due to paralysis from a tumor on her spinal cord. Susan and her family will have more information from all the tests and lab work on July 7th.
Susan (Melson) Douglas is going to need both prayers and some financial help during her battle with cancer. Susan has worked at Lawton Elementary School since 2010 as a classroom aide and bus driver of the Camel Bus. She and her family are lifelong residents of our little town.
