On March 4, 2015, my beautiful cousin, Kelli Hendrix, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma Brain Cancer; the same day of her 46th Birthday. The first words out of her mouth were, “I guess this is the day of my re-birth”. She has rarely waivered from that moment of powerful awakening even though a few weeks later, her Dad (my Uncle Ray), was also diagnosed with Brain Cancer and recently left this world for his next adventure on April 13, 2015.

I, as well as many others, find inspiration from Kelli each and every day. She will be the first to tell you she was given the best present ever and is deeply committed to the gift of life. She appreciates how precious every day is and we know she will live for as long as she wants to.

There is no known cure for this type of brain cancer but there is a miracle on the horizon. There is currently a clinical trial of therapy at Duke University that uses a re-engineered polio virus to kill cancer cells. Kelli is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation after the initial brain surgery to remove one of the two tumors.

Kelli has lost much functionality on the right side of her body but is getting stronger every day with physical therapy. Unfortunately, the emotional and financial distress to the family is taking a toll with no real end in sight. Not only are they faced with the threat of losing a wonderful Wife and Mother, but also the adjustment of losing half of their income in an instant.
