South Florida's only African-centered private school needs your help. The New Alkebulan STEM Education Center is the type of school students ask to come to and cry when they have to leave. It's the type of school that parents say they wish they'd gone to when they were little. It's the type of school that local leaders say the community needs. But, now we need you. New Alkebulan started in 2013 as a Black homeschool co-op and grew to become South Florida's ONLY African-centered, project-based K-9 private school. We have served hundreds of South Florida students over the past 10 years, but increased rental rates and decreased funding now threaten the school's ability to remain open. The school now needs the community, but the Black community also needs the New Alkebulan school.

New Alkebulan teaches children 3 fundamental lessons:
1. You are a Creator!
2. You can create.
3. You should create and you should do so in service of YOUR community.

The New Alkebulan school is a game-changer for our students and it could be a game-changer for our community. "Black people need to build their own institutions, their own banks, their own schools, their own hospitals, their own etc. etc" How many times have you heard that? The real question to ask is, "At what point in our children's education are they TAUGHT to build?" At what point in YOUR education were you taught to build? At the New Alkebulan STEM Education Center, the fact that our children are creators is the first thing that they learn and what they practice daily. Our school's unique approach blends advanced academics, personal development, and the study of Black history and culture. Our students have already achieved remarkable milestones by constructing a battery-powered car, life-sized boats, indoor hydroponic growers, and small businesses. These are only a few of their accomplishments. Education is transformative when it is rooted in culture and given a purpose.

To continue on this path of empowerment, we are asking for your support in raising $50,000, which will be allocated towards critical areas that fortify our students' educational experiences and well-being. Your donations will help provide:

1. Transportation: Students commute from Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, sometimes traveling over an hour each way to get to school. Your donation would enable more students to have access to a school that better serves them.

2. Nutritious Meals: Sadly, some of our students come from families struggling to afford healthy meals. Your donation will help us provide food to children who come to school without any.

3. Project Materials: As a project-based school, we constantly strive to create a dynamic learning environment. Your contribution will provide essential project materials for our current build, the conversation of a 20-ft shipping container into a tiny house.

4. Enrichment Opportunities: Drumming, dance, step-team, drama club, a young authors' club, boxing and self-defense are a few of the enrichment activities we offer and your donation will help pay students' afterschool fees.

We all know that the public school system has its shortcomings. We also know that African-American history and Black studies have come under attack in the state of Florida. New Alkebulan is a private school with a curriculum that was designed specifically for our children and the students who attend New Alkebulan are NOT affected by Florida's political environment. They focus on learning and building for their community.
