Chris's health journey started as a result of having Covid in January 2020. Chris has since come up against and fiercely fought many debilitating and life-altering medical conditions, starting with an autoimmune disorder, pancreatitis, necrotizing pancreatitis, and type 2 diabetes. He underwent the critical Whipple procedure and is now living with a medical condition called hyperinsulinemia.
Between hospital stays, Chris was able to work at both Invitae and then Exact Sciences, where he was a leader in customer care as a senior account sales manager, passionately working with oncology providers to educate them on crucial genomic testing and enhancing oncology patient outcomes. He was an incredible teammate, always willing to lend a hand, share his medical knowledge, and help his teammates. Teammates of Chris's would often get a gorgeous NM sunrise picture from him along with loving, supportive, positive words of praise and affirmation for his team.
A few months back, in March 2025, Chris was found in his home by his mom, unconscious and lying at the foot of his staircase. He had passed out from hypoglycemia and was rushed to the emergency room. From that point, Chris was in the hospital ICU for 2 months, where he endured a lot of pain. His healthcare team tirelessly tried to find ways to keep his insulin regulated, and he subsequently coded and was brought back to life more than half a dozen times.
He is out of the hospital but requires care and help. He is no longer able to drive due to all of the medication he takes and the risks of hypoglycemia and potentially passing out from a diabetic coma.
During this trying time of fighting for his life, Chris has had to put his beloved home up for sale and is in the process of taking a loan from his 401k to pay for his medications, durable medical equipment, his mortgage, and living expenses.
Any donated funds will go toward housing, transportation (since he cannot drive due to risks of hypoglycemia), prescriptions, durable medical equipment and supplies, and outstanding medical bills.
Chris is one of a kind... A Navy veteran, a Freemason, an adoring son to his sweet mother, a kind and generous brother, cousin, and uncle to his family, and the most adoring dog daddy to his beloved pets. As a sales rep, Chris personifies "what great looks like" not only to his managers and teams but to his customers. Chris is patient, knowledgeable, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile for anyone. He sees the best in everyone and makes the most of every encounter.
Chris is still here for a reason; he could have easily given up in 2020, but he chose to live, gain back his strength, get back to working, and be here for his family and friends. His faith in God and hope for a cure, as well as his stubbornness, have gotten him through these last 4 1/2 years. This GoFundMe was put together unanimously by friends and family with the one tried and true thought that Chris would do this to help friend or foe. It's our time to give back and give to the man who is always there for everyone! Any sort of donation or words of encouragement for Chris are welcomed.
