Hello guys. Just found out my dog needs emergency surgery for stones that have left his bladder and are now blocking so he can’t go to the bathroom Please find the kindness in your heart to help my little buddy Anything will gladly help out if I’m not able to get the funds I will have to put him down

Thor update: He is out of surgery. They removed 2 large stones, that look like they were clustered at one point. They also flushed his bladder but it is so inflamed that it may still have some sediment they cannot remove. He will be on antibiotics for some time. He must also stay on a very specific diet - no treats, etc. They’ve taken his bloodwork, urinalysis and stones and have sent them for outside lab work. He will be home by 5 today Thank you to everyone who has helped, and keeps helping with not only the cost but thoughts, prayers, good juju.. whatever you want to call it! Saving Thor wouldn’t have been possible without each and every one of you❤️❤️❤️❤️

Last update on Thor from last night: The vet was able to fully sedate him and insert a catheter to manually move the stones back into his bladder. She said there are two types of stones - smooth like a pebble or spiky and sharp; his are unfortunately spiky and sharp. His urine is cloudy so they are putting him on antibiotic because it looks like an infection is setting in. They are willing to perform the surgery but cost is still an issue. They are going to see if my vet can perform the surgery to keep the cost lower for me. The surgery options at this point are laparoscopic where he will have 3 incisions and an incision to the bladder with minimal recoup time. The other will be the traditional abdominal incision which is quite large and recovery time will be much longer. They have also discussed a specific diet and/or a medication to lower the ph of his urine. On a lighter note, the vet also let me know that he demeanor is better and he’s wanting to “help” everyone in the office he is not out of the woods just yet so keep the prayers and good juju coming! If you’d still like to help my fur baby.

Update on Thor

Thor update: They can see the stones but need to do an ultrasound because they are too faint to see on the X-ray. He will be under their care for the next 24 hours under full sedation with a catheter. His bladder is swollen and stretched out - they are unsure if it will retract once treated. They are developing a game plan for him but said getting the catheter in is the first step so they can alleviate the urine backing up. One of the stones they can see is clearly blocking the urethra. They also believe he is developing an infection. They can tell they are not calcium stones because we should be able to see them clearly on a X-ray and you cannot. They don’t think they are struvite stones because the Urinary SO food should’ve helped and it didn’t. Once they can remove a stone, they can see what it is and develop a treatment plan accordingly. She did tell me that putting him down is a serious possibility if the urethra wall tears while trying to remove the stones.
