Ella's Cuddle Cot

Donation protected
Seth and I are raising money for a Cuddle Cot to be placed at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.  We would like to be able to give this to the hospital for her 3rd birthday.   A Cuddle Cot is a cooling unit that allows a family to spend additional time with their child.

Why is this important to us…
I had Ella at 9:00 a.m. on February 20, 2014. Each minute we spent with her was treasured, as we knew that was all we would get. One day... one day to spend with our daughter... one day to make a lifetime worth of memories. I will never forget the precious moments we spent with her. Seth rocking her and singing a lullaby to her (a video has been uploaded), my parents meeting their grandchild for the first time.

As February 20th, carried on, Seth and I could see what was happening to Ella. At 4:00 p.m., we told our loved ones that they needed to say their goodbyes to Ella, as we needed sometime time alone as a family. At 4:45 p.m., our nurse (also Seth’s wonderful Aunt Nancy) came to take Ella away from us. After I gave her to Nancy, and Nancy exited the room, I looked at Seth and knew I was not done, I needed to see her again, this could not be all I get, just a few hours with her. So I ran out of my hospital room, to see if I could catch Nancy, but she was gone with my little girl. I would never hold her again.

When the first time is also the last or the only time, a Cuddle Cot can change everything. A Cuddle Cot would have given us more time with our sweet Ella.

My pregnancy…
Ella Michael Schoetzow was stillborn. She was such a special little girl. We were so excited for her arrival. I was full term and only approximately 9 days from my due date when we learned that we lost her. I had an unremarkable pregnancy. Ella's passing came out of the blue. I was at the OB's office on February 13, 2014, had a full ultrasound, and was given a great report. Baby Ella was coming soon. It was not until February 19 that I woke up, went to work, and then realized, I had not felt her move that day. I called my OB and they said to come right in, which I did. I heard the words I will never forget, "there is no heartbeat."

We are asking that you help support us as we try to raise money in Ella’s name. We want another mother and father to have one more time to hold their child, one more lullaby, one more moment to stare at those amazing fingers and toes.

Thank you.

Seth, Lisa and Bronson (Ella’s little brother)
