This is my dog, Bandit. During a playful game of fetch, Bandit ran for the ball and let out a painful scream. She could no longer bear weight on her left hind leg. A visit to the vet revealed Bandit tore her ACL and the recommended treatment is orthopedic surgery. A month has passed since our visit to the vet and she is still limping and in tremendous pain.

Unfortunately, the surgery is a costly $4,700. I am a single mom, a full-time college student, work two part time jobs, and currently going through a divorce that puts the surgery out of my ability to pay. Bandit became a part of my family in 2018 while I was an active duty Marine stationed in San Diego, CA. At that time I lived far away from family and she quickly proved to be "[wo]man's best friend."

She has been with me during the pregnancy and birth of my son, many moves, a transition out of the military, and now as I leave an abusive marriage, attend school, and love and care for my son.
