Sloane’s healing journey

Hello all,

This is Abra, John’s sister. We’ve set up this GoFundMe to give friends and loved ones the opportunity to support the amazing Derbis family - John, Katy, Sloane and Margot during this challenging time. Sloane just turned one at the end of January. She was diagnosed with stage four high risk neuroblastoma mid-February, a rare cancer that mostly affects children under 5.

The Derbis family abruptly left their Duluth home and headed to Children’s hospital in the twin cities after scans at an ER visit revealed concerning masses. Sloane was in the hospital for two weeks and started chemo inpatient. She was discharged Feb 27th. She’ll undergo multiple rounds of chemo with breaks in between.

The family is also going to be relocating to the twin cities area for John’s work and to be closer to the hospital.

The family is choosing to stay positive and remain hope filled as they navigate what most of us cannot imagine.
