Katie, Scott and her amazing family have found themselves in a rock and a hard place.
After 3 trips to our local Moree hospital and then moving onto Newcastle; Chase was diagnosed with Landun Klefornet, a rare form of Epilepsy, which has caused him to loose his speech and mobility. Chase also has developed outbursts of rage, he was on medication to help ease these, but sadly only worked for a short period of time.
During the school holidays things took a turn for the worse. Chase was again admitted to hospital. Katie made the hard decision to leave her job at Moree East Public School so she could move herself and her 4 kids to be with her husband in Emerald (who had recently made the move to a more secure job). Just when we think things could not get any worst... Scott and son Ely were driving the truck loaded with all of their furniture which rolled, they have now lost all of their furniture. Scott and Ely were thankfully okay.
Finally they made it Emerald, where Chase's condition deteriorated quite rapidly. Chase is hurting himself and Katie.
Katie took Chase back to the doctor in QLD and told them that she wasn't taking him home until they have done some further testing. Well it didn’t take long for Chase to have an episode and once he lost control the medical team decided to fly them both to Brisbane Children’s Hospital.
As times are already hard with COVID-19, Katie leaving her job, losing their furniture they are now left with the uncertainty of not knowing what is going on with Chase and the medical costs associated with this.
