My sister Courtney Buchanan has undergone 4 major reconstructive surgeries on her windpipe in the past six months. She had scar tissue that had built up in her windpipe from contracting Covid in November 2020 that was blocking 80% of her airway. They removed one inch of her windpipe along with the scar tissue and inserted a trach. They are still unsure if the tracheostomy will be able to be reversed or not, it is possible that it will remain permanently. She is a single mother of two boys 16 and 8 and worked as a registered nurse before she became ill. She has struggled to get any governmental assistance during this time and has been struggling to get by financially. On friday night her son was in an accident that totaled her only vehicle. She had to make budget cuts to get through this tough time so she had dropped her insurance to liability only and so now she is without a vehicle as well. She travels back and forth to Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan for her medical care. Without a vehicle she has no way to travel to her appointments. She needs all the help she can possibly get during this difficult time. She has always been able to work hard and support her boys and help others, but is facing a very difficult financial time right now. I am asking anyone who can spare anything to consider helping her get back on her feet while life keeps kicking her down. With medical and financial bills piling up, she could use the extra love and support during this difficult time.
