On Friday, September 18th my mom Clara went to the ER because she was having trouble breathing, was dizzy and light headed. She went by ambulance because she was afraid to drive. They told her she had a kidney infection, pneumonia in both lungs, and she tested positive for Covid-19. Saturday I texted her. She said she was feeling worse and didn't even have the strength to text. By Sunday all I got from her was I Love You. I got a call from the hospital at 5 am this morning, Monday September 21st; 3 days after she was admitted. The doctor told me that they now have her in the CICU sedated and on a ventilator. A machine is now breathing for her because she can't catch her breath. All day long she has been struggling. Now, they have given her a paralytic to fully relax her muscles, hoping this will allow the ventilator to work. They are also giving her an experimental Covid drug, no guarantees. She lost her job a couple months ago because of Covid. She has no insurance. She's looking at several more days in CICU and when(i have to think positive) she gets out of CICU , probably more time in the hospital before she goes home. This is my mom. I'm terrified for her. I have heard the stories, I just never thought it would hit this close to home. If there is anything you can do to help out it will be greatly appreciated. I will continue to remain positive and update as I can.
