The Kelly & Miguel Busquets family lost their beautiful home on Wildcat Lane in Chincoteague on June 14th to a devastating 6-alarm fire.
Heroic firefighting efforts by the Chincoteague VFD and many surrounding fire companies to save the house, for which the Busquets will be eternally grateful, were severely hampered by 30-40 mph winds which spread the uncontrollable flames exceedingly fast.
In the fire, the Busquets lost almost EVERYTHING they own and were left with only the clothes on their backs and whatever Miguel and Kelly, who were at work at the time, had in their cars. Their kids, who miraculously escaped the inferno, had to leave without even shoes or socks.
Although their dog, cat and lizard were saved, sadly, their 2 guinea pigs perished in the blaze.
The entire Busquets family is incredibly appreciative for the extraordinary kindness and outpouring of support by our wonderful Chincoteague community thus far.
Let’s help them begin to get back on their feet by demonstrating our love and caring through not only our generous moral support, but also by contributing as much as we can to help fund their short-term needs.
It DOES take a village!!!!!
