*Update on Marina. Her recovery has had some set backs. Over the weekend she was transported by ambulance twice to Yale New Haven Hospital due to high fevers of 104 and rapid heart rate. On her first emergency room visit she was administered antibiotics via IV and sent home. At 3am the next day her fever spiked to 104 again. She was transported via ambulance once again to Yale New Haven Hospital & admitted since she wasn't responding to the antibiotics and they needed to run more tests to find the cause of the fevers and rapid heart rate. To date, no test has determined the cause. We are waiting on her cultures to come back. She is currently home recovering now. We pray against any further setbacks & thankful she is home again.
Thank you everyone for your continued prayers, love & support, for sharing her Gofundme link and for your donations. ♥️
My name is Andrea Crisci, Marina Crisci's mom. On December 13, 2022 Marina was rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital in atrial fibulation. Due to being pregnant & in AFIB for 10 hours that they couldn't get her out of, she was admitted to ICU where she spent one week. This began the 5 month health battle where they ran dozens of tests and revealed that Marina was born with bicuspid aorta. A birth defect that went undetected her entire life. It was only through the amazing team of cardiology at Yale that it was detected while in ICU. Had she not been pregnant with Noah at the time, none of this would of been found. Her heart was working that much harder. Since December, Marinas health issues continued. Due to the heart condition, she had to deliver via c-section a month early to avoid the aorta rupturing. In actuality it could of happened at any time resulting in an aneurysm with zero chance of survival. After weekly doctor visits, several hospital admissions, continued weekly tests, and a mild stroke 2 weeks ago it was determined she could no longer hold off on open heart surgery. On May 16th, she was admitted once again to Yale New Haven hospital where open heart surgery was performed successfully. Repairing the aorta and singing the leaking valve. Within the last 3 months she has endured 2 major surgeries that have resulted in an excessive amount of out of pocket expenses including being out of work since the doctors limited everything she could due since December. She will continue to be out of work until she is fully recovered which her recovery requires her to not be mobile at all for the next month if not longer. This means 24 hour home care for her and her newborn. While we are so incredibly thankful for a successful surgery and the outpouring of love & support, the financial burden has been an added stress upon her. Any donation will help offset the medical expenses and compensate for all the time she has been out of work. As some of you know, she is self employed and has lost every ounce of income at this time.
Thank you all again for your love, support & prayers. Her road to recovery begins and we hope this will lessen the burdens of how she will meet her monthly expenses and offset all the medical expenses. Being a new mom has been her focus and fight. Making sure she lived to be able to be there for her newborn son Noah.
