Justice for Brandi and Mom!

Donation protected

First thank you for any support you can provide. My name is Stephanie and this beautiful girl is Brandi. She is my mother in laws dog. On 5/24 Brandi was playing with her mom(Susan) when a FedEx driver turned off of a highway and then stomped on the gas and sped up the driveway, her mom screamed for her but it was too late. 180ft onto the property Brandi was hit by the careless driver. The driver got out and said "I didn't see your dog I was looking at my phone" She then got back in the delivery van finished driving up to house and delivered the package. On her way back she stopped again as mom, who is 71, was struggling to pick up her 80 pound dog to rush her to vet, and said. " I'm sorry I would help you but I need to deliver these packages." She then left.
She left this 71 year old woman shocked and struggling to save her precious companion. Susan ran over to get help from a neighbor to help her load Brandi into her truck to rush her to the vet. Susan is my mother in law and she lives in a rural area. The closest emergency vet is 1.5 hours away. She was able to get Brandi to the vets office where we met her. Mom was shattered by what happened. The look on her face and to hear defeated tone was absolutely heartbreaking.
Brandi, suffered a broken hip on the left side and a ball joint fracture on the right.

Brandi, was a birthday gift to mom last year for her 70 birthday. Mom's previous fur baby had died the previous winter and mom was lonely. She missed having a walking, companion, a warm cuddle bug to sit and be petted while she would read or watch tv. Brandi goes everywhere with her. Brandi is her companion, her support animal, her baby.
Brandi had to have surgery on both hips. Mom had to move in with us while Brandi is recovering because for the first 2 weeks Brandi could not put any weight on her hind legs, and would need to carried with a sling outside to go potty. Mom lives in a home with several sets of stairs so being at home to take Brandi out for potty is impossible.

The cost so far is close to 7000.00 and more cost expected. Susan (mom) is on a fixed income so we and my brother in law stepped to help mitigate the cost and pay what we could.
FedEx was called and a claim was filed.
Shawn, a fedex insurance adjuster, called and said she would help get the claim paid, she said she would send an email so we could send documents for reimbursement.

Shawn lied and never sent a email. Instead she called 5 hours later to say they were not going to pay the claim because the dog was not on a leash.

They were on private property and where she lives there are no leash laws. Shawn will not return my calls or emails. I just want to clarify what exactly the issue is. They then sent a letter stating there is a state leash law so they won't pay the claim.

There is no blanket leash law in Idaho, or Idaho county. Mom lives in unincorporated area so there are no city ordinance to abide by. She has been displaced from her home for a month now. Her garden that she would work on everyday is half dead and the other half covered with weeds. She and Brandi are forced to stay with us and as much as they are both welcome this is simply not home. We have even brought her cat here so that she didnt have to worry about someone needing to check on her. Mom, Brandi, and the cat will be with us another 3 weeks minimum.

We are looking to raise money to help cover vet bills and for possible attorney fees to help get reimbursed by this cold heartless company that is trying to railroad a 71 year old woman. We spent what we could to save Brandi. We are not asking for anything extra from them. We just want them to do the RIGHT thing and pay for the vet bills.
No one wants to break their moms heart. Especially one that is as great as Susan.
We are asking for help to get justice for mom and Brandi, and FedEx to take ownership for incident.
Please help is you can. I am so disturbed by how this multi billion dollar company is crushing the soul of this beautiful woman, that I want people to be as outraged as we are by their cowardice.

Thank you so much for your support!
