Help a local nurse, Tenise Ertl
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ami and I created this fundraiser for my friend Tenise Ertl. All donations will go directly to Tenise for the benefit of her and her family.
After a life-long struggle with various medical issues, Tenise was finally diagnosed with McArdle Disease (Type V (five) glycogen storage disease (GSD V)). This is a rare inherited condition in which the body is not able to break down glycogen. Glycogen is an important source of energy that is stored in all tissues, especially in the muscles and liver. On March 25 she squatted down to put a hat on her young daughter, and experienced sudden and severe pain.
She ultimately was diagnosed with Compartment Syndrome in her lower right leg and transferred to a hospital capable of caring for her. Unfortunately, the fasciotomy was done 26 hours after the onset of symptoms. This prolonged time with increased pressure caused permanent damage to muscle and nerves.
Fast forward to today, April 4, Tenise has now had a total of 4 surgeries, with more to come. They have had to remove all of one muscle and a portion of another. They have been able to completely close one of the surgical sites, but the other remains open due to swelling that remains.
Tenise is glad to be at a hospital with the ability to care for her condition. However, this hospital is out of network for her insurance.
Her husband, Dalton, works for a local ambulance district, and has had to take unpaid days off of work. Even though Tenise is blessed enough to be able to work from home, she will be off while she continues to heal. Once she is finally done with surgeries and is able to go home, she will have physical therapy. They say eventually she will gain enough strength and movement in her foot to be able to drive again. All donations will go to Tenise and Dalton Ertl to help out with travel expenses and medical bills.
If you are unable to give, please pray for Tenise, her family, and her medical team!
