Help My Mom Walk Again — Support Her Recovery Journey

Hi everyone,

My name is Kendra, and I’m reaching out with a heart full of hope and a humble request. Recently, my mom, Audrey, who lives in Kentucky was in Atlanta visiting me for her birthday weekend, and on her 62nd birthday suffered a fall that left her with a severely broken ankle and a fractured shin. She also suffered a second fall trying to use crutches in the ER. It’s been a painful and scary time for her — and for all of us who love her.

My mom is our rock. She’s always been the one who showed up for others — whether it was staying up late taking care of one of us when we were sick, being a caregiver to a quadriplegic until he died, working long hours to keep food on the table, or dropping everything to help a friend or neighbor. Now, for the first time, she’s the one who needs help, and it’s not easy for her to ask. So I’m doing it for her.

Her injury requires surgery, and she will need plates and screws in her leg. She’ll need months of physical therapy to walk again, and possibly a second surgery down the road. The medical bills are already overwhelming — and we’re only just beginning this journey.

Unfortunately, insurance only covers so much. Between out-of-network immediate care and emergency room, surgery, medication, follow-up appointments, physical therapy, medical equipment, and transportation, the costs are stacking up fast. And because she can’t work while she recovers, she’s also facing a struggle with living expenses and monthly payments with only 60% of her income on short term disability.

We’re trying to stay strong, but the truth is — we can’t do this alone. That’s why I’m asking for your help.

Your donation will go directly toward:

  • Medical bills and surgery costs
  • Physical therapy sessions
  • Mobility aids (like a knee scooter and a walker)
  • Home health care support and accessibility needs
  • Help with some of the living and monthly expenses while my mom is on short term disability with only 60% of her income

Whether you can give a little or a lot, it all helps more than you know. And if you’re not in a place to donate, sharing this campaign would mean the world to us.

More than anything, I just want to see my mom healthy again. I want her to walk without pain, to smile without worry, and to feel the love she’s given to so many come back to her in this time of need.

From the bottom of my heart — thank you for reading, for caring, and for being part of her healing journey.

With gratitude,

Kendra
