This year, the holidays were not so merry and bright. Shortly after Christmas, our dog, Moose, stopped eating. If you know Moose - you know this is very abnormal. As a dog who has gained a reputation as a sneaky opportunist when it comes to food - him refusing to eat was extremely troublesome. We were away with family, but came home early after hearing that he had thrown up lots of water and still refused to eat. Hoping that it was just missing his "pack" we brought him home and offered him his favorites - peanut butter, bananas, chicken... but he would sniff and turn away.
We quickly made a vet appointment where they did bloodwork and took x-rays and ultrasounds. Unfortunately, one of Moose's Christmas presents was stuck in his stomach - causing a blockage that rendered him unable to eat.
With it now being New Year's Eve, we quickly took him to the Veterinary ER where we waited to see what could be done.
Fortunately, they were able to confirm that they could help.
Unfortunately, the only way to save Moose was through an extremely expensive surgery.
Dave stayed up all night on New Year's Eve - not waiting for the ball to drop, but waiting for the call from the hospital with an update on the surgery.
Rather than ringing in the New Year - Moose was ringing in a new shot at life. We are beyond thankful to the doctors and surgeons who have helped Moose, but now we are reaching out to our community for help.
If you've met Moose - you know he is always good for an aggressive tail wag and lots of love. While we have a wonderful family helping to cover most of the cost, we are still reaching out and any support you can offer would mean the world to us!
