Our youngest daughter Zoe was just diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and is currently receiving treatment at IWK children's hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
We are lucky enough to live in a country where the majority of the medical bills are covered by Medicare but there are a lot of non-medical expenses that come with this. We are from Moncton, New Brunswick and that means we are at a hospital 2.5 hours away from home. So that means, gas, hospital parking, food, etc is all out of pocket. And it's adding up quick.
The current information we have from the doctors says we will be here for at least 2 weeks for now and will be making many trips back and forth from Moncton to Halifax for the next 2 years.
I'm not the type of person to ask for hand outs because I know that many are on a tight budget just like us. But many friends and family have asked for a way to help and this is what would help us the most.
We truly appreciate all the love and support we have and are receiving. You are all such amazing people. It means so much to know that there are so many people out there that care.
