Sophie's Legacy

Hi , my name is James. I am running the New Forest Marathon in aid to raise money for Sophie's Legacy.

Why am I running the marathon? I am a slightly overweight dad of two , busy job , two previous major knee surgeries & frankly not a very good runner!

This charity is important to me because I lost my mother to cancer last year. Loosing a parent is hard enough but I cannot begin to imagine what parents with children with cancer go through on a daily basis. Children's cancer care is just as important if not more important as adult cancer care. More needs to be done to correct the disparity of funding for children with cancer.

I first found out about Sophie's Legacy at a charity golf day in 2022 & her story has never left me. She was an incredibly brave & selfless little girl who's wishes have been taken forward by her Mother Charlotte who heads up this great charity.

It was my mother's wish not to have a funeral so this will be our day together running around the New Forest raising funds for a great cause.

I have taken great inspiration from Sophie's story , she has retaught me a valuable lesson to be thankful for what you have & not to take those in your life for granted.
