En junio recibí una noticia que cambió mi vida por completo: fui diagnosticada con cáncer de mama, categoría 2. Este diagnóstico no solo ha impactado mi salud física y emocional, sino también mi estabilidad económica.

En agosto me sometí a mi primera cirugía: una mastectomía con reconstrucción y expansor. Afortunadamente, lograron remover todo el tumor y los nódulos resultaron negativos. Sin embargo, tres semanas después tuve que enfrentar una segunda cirugía de emergencia debido a una retención de sangre en el área operada, lo que ocasionó varias complicaciones médicas. Ambas operaciones generaron copagos significativos que no fueron cubiertos por mi plan médico.

Durante este tiempo estuve casi dos meses sin poder trabajar, agotando todos mis beneficios acumulados de enfermedad y vacaciones. Actualmente inicié un tratamiento de quimioterapia preventiva por seis meses, el cual también conlleva copagos mensuales adicionales que continúan aumentando mis deudas médicas.

Trabajo siempre que mi salud y mis fuerzas me lo permiten, pero la realidad es que el impacto económico del cáncer ha sido tan fuerte como el físico y emocional. Por eso he creado este GoFundMe: para intentar recuperar algo de estabilidad y poder sufragar los gastos médicos que se han acumulado durante estos meses tan difíciles.

Hi, my name is Nathalie.

In June, I received news that completely changed my life: I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. This diagnosis has affected not only my physical and emotional well-being, but also my financial stability.

In August, I underwent my first surgery: a mastectomy with reconstruction and an expander. Thankfully, the doctors were able to remove the entire tumor, and my lymph nodes came back negative. However, three weeks later, I had to undergo an emergency surgery due to blood retention in the operated area, which caused several medical complications. Both surgeries resulted in significant copays that were not covered by my health insurance.

During this time, I was unable to work for almost two months, exhausting all of my sick leave and vacation benefits. I am currently undergoing preventive chemotherapy for six months, which also carries monthly copays that continue to add to the medical debt I’ve accumulated over these difficult months.

I continue working whenever my health and strength allow me, but the financial impact of cancer has been just as heavy as the physical and emotional toll. This is why I created this GoFundMe: to regain some stability and help cover the medical expenses that have built up throughout this journey.
