Support Betty's Family in Their Time of Loss

On September 10th we said goodbye to the most important person in our lives. She passed in her sleep, and surrounded by family, and that’s all that we could’ve asked for. To those of you who may not have known, my grandmother Susan, but most of you knew as Betty, was dealt a bad hand to say the least. She had been sick for a long time. Five different types of cancer she had endured and fought with overwhelming strength. She was diagnosed with breast cancer many years ago and beat it. Then two different types of skin cancer, which she also overcame. Last year she was diagnosed with an incurable form of lung cancer. The treatments were hard and invasive, but like always, she trudged along and worried more about everyone else then herself. She was like that. I’m sure many of you know this.

We had accepted that, no matter what, the cancer would come back. But there was a glimmer of hope and it was under control, she was technically in remission for the time being. Then May of this year came and we were hit with the unimaginable. This woman who had already been through so much… too much, was now told that she had leukemia. We were told from the very beginning that the odds weren’t in our favor. But she still fought until the very last day. We find comfort knowing that at the very least, she is no longer suffering. Even though her pain has ended, we find that ours is just beginning. Not only has my pop lost the love of his life and partner of 50 years, But we’ve lost a mother and grandmother. We aren’t the ones to ask for help and we’ve always figured things out on our own. Unfortunately with this loss, we are also facing loss of income that comes with it. And in a time that my family should be grieving, comes the stress of worrying about the future. We’ve had to choose to have no viewing because it’s just too unnecessarily expensive. We’re choosing to have her cremated like she wished. So if possible we’d rather have a celebration of life at a later date, if anything. Something she would’ve wanted. If you can find it in your hearts to help my family in this time of need, we greatly appreciate it. My grandmother was always the one person you could count on to be there for you, no matter what, and I know how many lives she impacted just by being herself. Thank you for taking the time to read this, we appreciate you.
