Welcome and thank you to all of Jon McFadgen's supporters...friends, family and his extended community.
In early June, after an episode of extreme shortness of breath, my brother Jon was admitted to the ER and then the hospital at Glendale Memorial in Los Angeles. Jon had been under medical treatment in May for what seemed just to be a very bad cold.
Scans revealed that his right lung was nearly filled with fluid and that he had a cyst on his right kidney. His team of doctors determined the cyst had become infected, and that the infection had spread to his upper abdominal cavity, thoracic cavity and his right lung. Jon remained hospitalized for 10 days on IV antibiotics, and with drains installed in his lung and the kidney cyst.
While his prognosis is good, both his urologist and his pulmonologist feel like it's too soon to say whether he will be able to avoid surgery on one, or both areas. He felt incredibly fortunate to have such a great care team at Glendale Memorial, including his "amazing" nurses.
Jon is home now and will remain on IV antibiotics for at least 2-3 more weeks. His kidney drain is still in place, and hopefully can come out by mid to late July, when he should be able to return to work. Meanwhile, the medical bills and other expenses are growing every day.
Please donate to help Jon get back on his feet physically and financially! He is looking forward to having the energy to take Tazzy on long walks, to reconnect with friends, and to get back to his design clients at Arhaus.
