In October of 2016, Martin was taken to the ER for flu-like symptoms. He was then diagnosed with non-alcoholic end-stage liver failure with Cirrhosis. He had multiple ruptures of esophageal varices and proceeded to have multiple surgeries to control the internal bleeding. Since then, he has not been able to return to work because he is high-risk, and disability continues to deny him. Over the last 18 plus months, he has not been able to have gainful employment.
Thankfully, Martin’s cousin is a match and we are able to go ahead with the liver transplant in October! It will be a long road to recovery, and I will need to take some time off to care for him. We are asking for help to cover Martin’s medications, which are not covered by insurance. We will also need help to pay for his cousin’s travel and lodging, as she is coming from Alaska and giving up three months of her life to provide him with a chance to live.
Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. Martin has always been willing to help others, and now he is in need of some help himself. He is an amazing husband, father, and friend. Thank you in advance for your support.
