Rebuilding after Dorian for my Grand Bahama Family

Donation protected
As you may know Hurricane Dorian is currently slamming Grand Bahama Island (Freeport) in the Bahamas.  It is a monstrous storm of unprecedented force that has slowed to a stand still pummeling the island with life threatening wind, rain, and flooding for more than a day.  We lost contact with my  maternal Aunts, Uncle and Cousins yesterday.  Auntie Inez, Auntie Ciney, Uncle Pat, cousin Alex (Patrinique), her husband Godfrey, their children Godfrey Junior, Zariah, four month old baby boy Zayn among other family yesterday afternoon.

In anticipation of the major recovery ahead I am starting a fundraising effort to assist with the rebuilding process.  We have yet to hear the extent of the damage on their homes, but, we know they will need food, water, clothes, batteries, blankets and money to survive while they get the island back in order.  It is believed that the storm surge has contaminated the island's water supply compounding this crisis. I have set a modest goal for the time being but I expect we will need much more to rebuild when we get an assessment of the damage.  If you could also say a prayer for their safety while we wait to hear word from them it would be greatly appreciated.

Bahamians are proud and resourceful people. It is rare that you hear much about their recovery efforts on the news because they generally repair and rebuild quietly.  This disaster is beyond any one community.  Please give what you can to help.

Sincerely,

James Campbell
