Help Kalinda Get a Life-Changing Service Dog
Hi, my name is Kalinda Ann Patterson. I’m 16 years old, and I’m currently living independently after the unexpected loss of my guardian last year. I’m working toward legal emancipation while finishing high school and trying to build a stable future for myself. It hasn’t been easy—but I’m determined to keep going.
I live with multiple disabilities that impact every part of my daily life. I have severe anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, hearing loss, and mobility challenges. These conditions make it difficult and sometimes unsafe for me to navigate the world alone. A professionally trained service dog would truly be life-changing—it would help keep me safe, grounded, and independent.
The dog would be trained to assist with balance support, alert me to important sounds, and provide emotional grounding during panic attacks, flashbacks, and episodes of anxiety. Just having a calm and skilled companion by my side would give me confidence and peace of mind I haven’t had in a long time.
While some organizations like CHAMP provide service dogs at no cost, there are still many related expenses—such as travel to and from training, supplies, food, and ongoing veterinary care. These costs can add up to over $3,000 a year, and as a young person living on my own, that’s far more than I can afford.
I’m reaching out for help—because I know that with the right support, I can continue building a stable, independent life. If you’re able to donate or even just share my story, it would mean the world to me.
Thank you for reading, supporting, and believing in me.
With gratitude,
Kalinda
