In March 2015, Kim was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. The cancer has spread to her liver and to the bones in her pelvic area. Prior to her diagnosis, the only symptom she was having was hip pain. As you can imagine, the diagnosis was a major shock to Kim and her family.
While Kim and her husband have good insurance, there have been medical bills that the insurance has not covered. These include necessary testing for a gene mutation that the insurance company declined because it was considered investigational, some of the cost of the infusion pump that is part of her chemotherapy treatment, and a lift recliner that was needed because of Kim's severe hip pain.
