My friends beautiful daughter Holly Hughes has had the terrible diagnosis of Leukaemia for the second time in her life at only 6 years of age.
Although extremely rare and only seen a handful of times in the UK the leukaemia have switched type leaving a very aggressive treatment plan ahead potentially leading to a stem cell transplant.
Treatment this time will be more intense and over a 6 month period with almost all treatment spent in Birmingham Children’s Hospital. This will make it almost impossible for her parents to work and they don’t want to be anywhere else but by her side.
During her first battle which was over 2 years of treatment her father Chris had to stop working in his business and took on large financial burdens. He has spent the past few years building the business back up to a sustainable level but will now have to leave his position to care for his daughter once more. The financial complications of providing 24 hour care for his baby girl for a second time could once again put his business and finances in jeopardy.
Chris has always done his bit for charity, hosting golf days and always donating to worthy causes.
As some of you know her father was previously running 5km everyday to raise money for Mind the mental health charity in honour of his Mum who also tragically passed away. He has now finished the 100 x 5kms for her and will now be starting his next goal of 200 x 5kms in a row to raise money for Holly’s future hopes and dreams.
All money raised for this cause will be spent on Holly during her treatment and anything else that she may need!
