John Allard’s Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Hello, my name is John and I am fundraising to help cover some medical expenses for a much needed surgery I have coming up right after the Christmas holiday.
For those that don’t know I have been in and out of the hospital for the last three years with health issues. Most recently, at the beginning of December I was diagnosed with a genetic disorder with my HFE gene which causes iron deposits in my liver. The iron deposits caused scarring in my liver and ultimately led to further complications that resulted in me developing ascites, or severe fluid buildup in the abdomen. The last week I was in the hospital they removed just under 40 pounds of fluid from my abdomen and legs!
I’ve been on heavy prescription diuretics for treatment, which has helped some, but I have to stop taking them because the heavy fluid loss caused me to get hypokalemia, or trouble with maintaining my potassium level which has caused low blood pressure and overall weakness in my body.
The doctors want to schedule me for an operation called TIPPS, which is a shunt that basically creates an artificial channel through the liver to reduce the fluid buildup and help with my blood pressure.
For those that know me you know I am usually incredibly private, but I realized it is time to ask for help. Any donations will go directly to medical bills or prescriptions. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Merry Christmas and God bless.
