Hi friends, family, and horse lovers near and far,

We’re reaching out from The Helping Horseshoe Therapeutic Riding Club, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit since 2000, to share the story of a very special horse — Diva — and ask for your help in supporting her recovery and building a medical fund for all our incredible therapeutic horses.

Meet Diva.

Diva is one of our superstar therapeutic riding horses, lovingly serving riders of all ages and abilities — including many individuals with special needs. She brings peace, confidence, and joy to those she works with, and her impact is immeasurable. Just last October, Diva was proudly ridden by 13 riders in the NJ Special Olympics Virtual Horse Show. She gives her heart every day, and now, she needs a little help from us in return.

Diva’s Medical Journey

On April 1st, Diva underwent a critical dental procedure, having not one, but two infected teeth removed. Without this intervention, she may have needed far more invasive surgery. Thanks to the skilled hands of Dr. McAndrews of Garden State Equine Dentistry, her procedure was a success — and we are so grateful for her expertise and care!

The cost of this dental surgery came to $3,400. Following the procedure, Diva was sent home with a new medication plan. She now receives a special antibiotic three times a day (every 6–8 hours!) for 30 days — administered in a unique way that requires close management. For that reason, Diva is staying with me at home where we can ensure her care is consistent and compassionate.

Her medication cost an additional $225, and we just had a wonderful follow-up visit on April 19th with Dr. Alex, who gave Diva a gold star! She’s healing beautifully so far, though there may be random discharge for up to two months — and we’re hoping this doesn’t develop into a chronic sinus infection.

We’ve created this GoFundMe to help cover Diva’s medical expenses, and more importantly, to start a dedicated fund to support medical care for all of our hardworking therapeutic horses.

These horses are the heart of what we do. They teach, heal, and inspire. They are patient, intuitive, and truly magical — and they deserve the best care we can possibly give them.
