Celebration of Life of My Juan "Bear" Estrada

In mid-October of 2022, Juan and I walked into the doctor's office as we were scheduled to receive tests and lab results for Juan. The words no one is prepared to hear were delivered, "The biopsy shows cancer." Instantly, a slew of emotions mangled in as we felt pulled to the ground. Soon after, we were told it was stage 4. Life as we knew it had fallen apart the instant those words were spoken.

The doctors decided to immediately start chemotherapy and radiation. The initial response was extremely favorable, and Juan was still able to work to support our family. I too, continued my full-time job. However, earlier this year, we were told that the cancer had spread to Juan's entire stomach. Juan's health began to rapidly and significantly decline as he was unable to keep nourishment in. As a wife, I was faced with the inconceivable position, with no other option in my heart and mind, but to keep fighting. I love him so much, the love of my life! We hold on tight to our faith and pray for a miracle. I will not give up...we are not giving up!

I have fully committed to his care, 24/7. Since April of this year, Juan has had to be admitted to hospitals several times. He is now on TPN (Parenteral nutrition), and taking a few medications while continuing the chemotherapy. I had to take a leave of absence from work to provide around the clock care for Juan as he is very frail and must have nourishment through the TPN. I also must drive him to get Paracentesis, which is a procedure performed in patients with ascites (fluid build up in the stomach), during which a needle is inserted into the peritoneal cavity to obtain ascitic fluid. At the moment, we have no income coming in. It is with a humble heart that I ask for your help to continue this fight; whether it is through prayers, sharing this link, and/or donations.
