Hi my name is Aleila Barringer and I am 17. I recently graduated from high school with honors and a 4.0 GPA. I was a part of the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program and my sophomore year of high school I was selected to attend the South Carolina Student Leadership Conference. My goals and plans are to attend High Point University, major in Psychology and become a Marriage and Family Therapist. As well as becoming an entrepreneur. But there have recently been some financial hardships on the path to being able to attend High Point University. I know that HPU is the right place for me to start this next chapter of my life. But, I also know that the only reason I have made it this far to this point in my life is because of God and the strong village of people around me. I truly believe and know that along this journey called life at some points everyone has had to reach out for help. I am grateful to all of those who have helped me to get to this point in my life. But I need help as I start this next chapter of my life. The total cost to cover a full year at High Point University is $58,600. I was informed last weekend about this and the money is due on June 30th. I do apologize for the late convenience. This may seem like a insurmountable amount but with having faith the size the grain of a mustard seed I know this mountain can move. When this goal is accomplished I will put in the work not only to make my family but, everyone who has and is supporting me proud. After counting the scholarships I have already been granted,to cover the cost of my first year at HPU I need a remainder of $35,000. That is a large number but taking the time to think about it if 125 generously donated $300 that would help me tremendously in covering the cost to complete my first year at HPU. Getting to this point in life I have faced some hardships. One of the biggest hardships being the loss of my mother when I was three years old to cancer. Although I loss the chance to get to know her for myself. I have not loss the chance to continue to live to make her proud. I know that my mother would not want me to give up on my dreams and pursuing a college education. If anyone can continue to help me in making this dream a reality, whether your donation is small or large I thank you for every bit of it in advance! May God Bless You!
