Help Rebuild this Off-the-Grid Sanctuary

Greetings to All,

As many of you know my sister, Alden Hoyt, and her husband, Josh Lord, lost their home in New Mexico to a forest fire on June 12, 2022. The Midnight Fire was started by a lightning strike. Due to the worst drought in many years, it claimed almost 5000 acres of the Carson National Forest in northern New Mexico. Josh and Alden are extremely humble humans, I am asking for help on their behalf to rebuild this ancestral home.

Josh’s parents originally built the house with hand tools in the ’70s. In the late 1990s the abandoned ruin was purchased by Josh and his parents, Djann and Lisa . At which point they began to rebuild as the foundation was still solid. Over the last 25 years many other friends and family have made the pilgrimage to Potrero to be a part of rebuilding and improving the house by hand. There are so many wonderful memories of family, friends, and neighbors helping to create this magical place. Those who have visited know its beauty. Josh and Alden have their true hearts and souls in Potrero Canyon.

Unfortunately, they did not have insurance and will likely not qualify for any FEMA assistance since it is not their primary residence and the fire was started by a natural cause.

Would you consider donating to help rebuild this off-the-grid sanctuary? Funds will be used for demolition, safe disposal, solar panels, food for workers, hemp bricks, hempcrete, windows, and wood. You can help make the dream of a Hobbit House with Hemp Towers overlooking the regrowth of the Carson National Forest become a reality.
