Hi My name is Tanja Williams and I'm raising money to prevent eviction.
My husband Justin, a United States Marine Veteran was terminated from his Federal job of 5 years In September of 2021. After overcoming Covid, PTSD and the stress of relocating for Hurricane Ida. He decided to enroll in CDL School so we could regroup and start over. We had no idea a speeding ticket from over 2 years ago would prevent him from being immediately hired. We contacted a social service organization as a last resort and were approved for Emergency rental assistance. They Stated we met all criteria & qualified for help. They did advise us to find a more rent reasonable home. We complied, and after we moved, they Retracted their offer with no Good explanation. We were later told the case worker was new and had misinformed us. We didnt understand, we met the income criteria and were promised a security deposit, Utility assistance, and at least one month of Rental assistance. They also said the program could pay up to six months if we met monthly qualifications. After months of going back & forth and formal complaints the agency has issued an apology and is stating they will help if we move for a second time. We explained to them the stress and unnecessary hardship a second move would cause. We were displaced for Hurricane Ida and lived in a hotel for 58 days where we depleted all of our savings. We then settled into a home and maintained for over a year. So in actuality, this would feel more like a fourth move.
We have 2 sons, a 14 year old with Autism and Auto-immune hemolytic anemia and an 8 year old. I also care for my 73 year old mother.
My husband is now employed by a local beverage company in Gulfport. He also works at convenience stores on weekends. He is committed to these jobs as he awaits clearance of one speeding ticket to obtain employment as an OTR CDL Driver.
We are in need of 2 months of rental assistance to pay for back rent/late fees. Also to allow us time to pay previous expenses that unemployment brings. We have always donated to causes such as this, but never thought we would be on this end needing help ourselves.
No donation is too small.
We are in need of $5000 by May 1st.
If we receive anything over this amount we will donate to other veterans in similar situations.
The funds will be used as follows:
$5000 Back/Future rent & late fees Utilities
This will stop the eviction & Give us at least 30 days to sustain ourselves.
Thank you in advance for all that will donate or want to donate but can't at this time.
I'm asking those who can, to please say a prayer for me and my family. I know that prayers work.
To all family and friends that have already helped, Thank you!
Signed a very concerned Mother, wife & Caregiver who believes.
