My husband, Doug, is a diabetic. He's been in the hospital since February 1, 2025, with complications from it. And it's been a major rollercoaster the entire time. Not one where you can see what's coming up. But one where you are in the dark and can't see your hand in front of your face. It's been scary, infuriating, and exhausting. Not only for Doug and I but also for our kids. I've exhausted every resource I have for help. I'm applying for a power of attorney through USAA with NO success. Doug has a bank account that I don't have access to for some complicated reasons. And he's getting short-term disability. But that money goes into that account. USAA has a way for spouses to access these accounts. But they are refusing to allow it. I've done all I know to do. And I'm continuing to appeal this decision. Eventually I will win, but right now I have to pay bills. Rent is due, which is $975. Electric is due and I owe over $700. Water is coming due which is "only" $100. My car needs replaced or repaired (which repairs are over $1000). My job is only part-time. And it's helping a little. But I only make $400 every 2 weeks. Which basically covers groceries and gas. But allows me to be there for Doug when needed. Even allowing me to take calls when I'm working. Or go to the hospital at the last minute if needed. I'm setting this up VERY RELUCTANTLY. People work hard and I don't like taking money from you. But I'm at the end of my rope. And need help.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. And if you know someone who can help me with the situation with USAA, I would appreciate it! The picture above is from last Thanksgiving in 2024. And a happier time. I'm looking forward to these coming back.
