Our friend Mihalis has brought joy to thousands of people over the past 30 years. His restaurant Santorini Mou has been a stopping point for many travelers lucky enough to visit the Island of Santorini. Mihalis built the structure with his bare hands, but more importantly he built a community with his heart and soul.

Many of us have returned to the restaurant to find pictures and notes we left in his photo books from years before. Mihalis' magic is that he can take one look at your face and tell you the month and year of your last visit, and then find your face in one of his many photo albums. He spends the winters enjoying the notes we have all left in those books. If you remember the lyrics to his song "I want to buy a boat", you will know how important his memories are to him. In the chorus, he sings "That's how I'm sailing around the world. I'm sailing around in my thoughts".

He's given smiles, great meals, and great songs to all who have passed through the restaurant and into his life. Mihalis is Santorini Mou, and it's our turn to give back to him. Sadly, his health is failing and his life's work is slowly being taken from him. He is an artist first, and a businessman second. To quote another verse of the song, "there is not penny at all".
