You never think it could happen to you..

On September 20th at 4:11pm a fire broke out in the attic of our home. The fire spread so fast I barely had time to get out. I ran out of the house with my little dog just before the water heater exploded and shattered most of the windows. I tried running back inside to get my cats but was impaled by smoke. Sadly, I was unable to get to any of them.

Everything we owned is gone. If it wasn't burned up by the fire its ruined from the smoke and soot that has invaded every surface, nook and cranny in the entire house.

Red Cross of Solano County was able to give us $515 but they do not provide hotel vouchers or temporary housing.

You don't realize it unless you've been through it just how much damage a fire can do in a few short minutes. The complete devistation and trauma it can have on your life. In one instant it can literally destroy everything you love and everything you have worked so hard for. No matter how well you think you are prepared or how much knowledge you have on what to do in the event of a fire. It all happens so fast that you don't even get the chance to put that knowledge to the test. Then it's over, and you have no choice but to live with the aftermath of it all.

My Mom (Kathleen) and I are dealing with the aftermath of a house fire that has changed our lives forever.
It destroyed things that are irreplaceable. Things that you could never put a dollar amount on. It also took the lives of all three of our very beloved cats. Who my mom and I loved like they were our children.

We have lost everything but the clothes on our backs. Every memory, keepsake, and valuable. Family heirlooms, picture albums, and irreplaceable things that we thought would be safe boxed away in the loft. Even our clothes, shoes and blankets cannot be salvaged. But most of all we lost our most precious and loved family members. The guilt that I live with everyday knowing that I should have done more to try to get them out will haunt me for the rest of my life. Having to make that phone call to my mom while she was at work to tell her that our entire feline family is dead, was the hardest thing I've ever done. They should not have died like that, I can't imagine how scared they were. We rescued them to give them a better life, not to have them die for something that could have been prevented.

We plan on retaining a lawyer to hold the owner of the house responsible for negligence.

I want to acknowledge the overwhelming support we have received from the community. There are people that genuinely do care and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We are looking for a rental, temporary or otherwise in Sonoma County, Solano County or Marin County. Or even an affordable airbnb type situation. If anyone has an affordable rental please let us know? Thank you so much.

To our kitty's Blaze, Mia, and TC we love and miss you so much. You will never be far from our thoughts and you will always be in our hearts.

All proceeds go to my mom, Kathleen.
