On August 8th, 2014, Tzvi was in a serious accident while riding an ATV with his nine-year-old daughter. Thank G-d both Tzvi and his daughter survived the accident, but Tzvi suffered severe brain trauma. He was medevacked to a nearby hospital, and the doctors were not sure he would survive the night. Miraculously with G-d's help, Tzvi made it through the night and spent the following weeks in the Trauma Intensive Care Unit fighting for his life. Acute brain damage rendered Tzvi in a coma, and the doctors prepared the family for the long fight that lay ahead.
Tzvi's wife and children have been by his side every minute since that fateful day in August. On a moment's notice, the entire family picked up and moved from their home in Florida to New York, so as to be close to Tzvi and support him on his difficult journey. Thank G-d, Tzvi has made neurological progress, and his conditon has improved from a coma to minimal consciousness. Currently, Tzvi responds to requests such as "give me a thumbs up," which gives much hope for an eventual recovery. The road to recovery for traumatic brain injury, however, is long and arduous.
Tzvi is a bespoke tailor and because he had been hospitalized for the last two years, he has been unable to work and provide for his family. Unfortunatly, his family's finances are running dry. In addition to that, Tzvi recently lost his health insurance and is now on Medicaid with limited benefits. The doctors are positive Tzvi will continue to make progress, and his wife and parents are eager to provide him with every possible opportunity for recovery, but their limited resources prevent them from doing so.
We need your help.
By contributing to this campaign you will be helping to support Tzvi's family, and helping to provide for Tzvi's medical expenses, including his traumatic brain injury (TBI) therapy specialists working to stimulate his brain and elevate his response level. These treatments have been helping Tzvi tremendously, and have proven to be essential to his recovery.
May Tzvi Hirsh Chaim Ben Guttel have a speedy and complete recovery.
