Addie Miller was born a monoamniotic twin with bad cord entanglement. These types of twins are a rare phenomenon. With a high mortality rate, she and her twin Kaylee defied odds. Born at only 30 weeks, during an emergency c-section, and just over 3lbs, Kaylee was practically unscathed. Addie on the other hand has suffered immensely. During their birth Addie was unable to receive oxygen for 9 minutes, this caused multiple brain bleeds which stemmed into Cerebral Palsy and organ damage. Her kidneys to the blunt of the force.
It’s come to the point where Addie is in need of a transplant. However with the transplant comes a complete change in lifestyle. No picnics, no large family gatherings, dieting and a multitude of medications added to the already existing list.
Addie had a nasal feeding tube placed as a baby and every night her mom, Ashley, stays up after the kids go to bed and gravity feeds Addie through her feeding tube. At age 13 Addie only weighs 63lbs, this has given the doctors extra reason to worry about her.
The transplant process requires a 2 week stay in the hospital and 3 months out of school. Although insurance helps cover some of the cost, there are a multitude of out of pocket and unexpected expenses heading their way.
They’ve tried to give Addie the most normal life they can. She loves hunting, fishing and playing softball. Her favorite color is blue and she likes to spend her time listening to Jelly Roll and Morgan Wallen, her two absolute favorite artists. But with Addie’s body slowly failing her, life has been more difficult. Her body is tired and fragile. With days of doctor’s appointments and procedures on the road ahead, this family needs their communities support now more than ever.
Ashley and Josh Miller, Addie’s mom and dad, both grew up in Newaygo County. They’ve built their life here and have raised their 4 kids in Newaygo. Josh currently works in Muskegon while Ashley works at The Depot Restaurant in Grant.

Thank you for your support! My name is Summer Groenke, I am a coworker to Ashley. She and her family mean a lot to us at The Depot and we want to make sure she is well taken care of during this time. We will keep the gofundme open until the transplant takes place. Any donations will be used towards covering the cost of any medical bills, unexpected expenses and to help cover day to day life while they spend time out of work and in the hospital. The funds are going into a bank account to be used when Addie and her family need it. They have full access to everything we have raised.
