When someone is diagnosed with Cancer, it’s very difficult to know what to say or do, especially when it is immediate family. Our dad was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer back in 2008 when we were both 12 years old. Although this remained relatively stable over the years, things took a turn for the worse in 2017 where his cancer was declared terminal, and within 3 months he had passed away. In his last month he was under the care of St Christophers Hospice, which is our chosen charity and reason behind us taking on this challenge.
St Christophers Hospice not only provided outstanding support to our dad, but also to us and mum and because of this, we are hoping to raise some cash for the cause, to do something positive and proactive for the hospice, which will hopefully go towards helping other families who have had a tough time dealing with not only Cancer, but other various illnesses.
This October we will be taking part in the 3 Peaks Challenge, a challenge to climb Ben Nevis, Scaffell Pike & Snowdon within 24 hours totalling a distance of 26 miles with a total ascent of 3064 metres. We’ve always enjoyed long walks, so we thought why not go that one step further?
For anyone that knows us well, this is not going to be an easy challenge, however this year has been all about pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone and so hey, this only seemed appropriate. Any support, whether a donation, a share of this page or a message of encouragement is greatly appreciated.
