Let's face it. Coronavirus fucking sucks.
We are all in the midst of a completely unprecedented situation. For a lot of us, we're waging a battle with an invisible enemy from our homes, doing all we can to end this by not doing anything. But we can't forget about the people risking their lives every day right now to help contain the spread.
As you have probably heard, there is a severe lack of protective equipment for our workers such as masks, gloves, gowns, coveralls, and more. Our goal to allocate as many supplies as possible to ensure their safety.
We are currently working on obtaining:
- 2000+ gloves ($42.99 for a box of 1000 latex gloves)
- 2000+ surgical masks ($25 for box of 50)
- 2000+ KN95 masks ($3 a mask)
- 500+ protective suits ($3.50 a suit)
- 1000 - 2000 meals (if anyone can help us find a spot that would be willing to give a discounted rate, please let us know!)
Our goal is to evenly distribute supplies to:
- Coney Island Hospital
- NYU Langone Medical Center's COVID Unit
- Maimonides Cancer Center
- West 8th Firehouse
- 60th and 61st Precincts
We are also accepting donations of any type of supplies to be allocated to these centers as well in hopes of helping save as many lives as possible.
In addition to organizing this effort, I am personally donating 500 masks and 1000 gloves.
We are set to make the donations on Wednesday, April 8th. We will take photos of everything and post responses from staff for you all to see the results that you helped contribute to :)
