Friends and Family,

Thank you for a moment of your time. I am Jennifer, wife of Ricardo, our mother’s youngest son. For 24 years, I have had the honor of calling this great woman “Mom”.

Paul is her eldest son, with his beautiful wife, Denise.

Come with me for a moment, on the journey of the last 9 months.

In October 2024, Mom was sitting in church and felt off. Upon being seen in the ER, she was diagnosed with a stroke, resulting in left side reduced vision and weakness.

Upon getting second and third opinions, her medical team discovered stage 4 cancer that had already metastasized to multiple areas, and she had a kidney injury with reduced kidney function.

Her faith was strong; she did not waver and trusted God regardless of the outcome. She was given a 2-3 month survival rate.

Instead of wallowing in grief, she took a trip to Florida to see her sister Monique and her husband. She came back after that visit, determined to touch more people and further her outreach of compassion and mentoring to others.

She hid so much to not worry those who cared for her.

She began to decline further, and we stood around her on July 1st as she took her last breath.

Today we learned the life insurance policy was not active long enough to provide coverage. She led a life of servitude, touching everyone she met in the most compassionate way.

We are not looking for an elaborate celebration of life, even though it would be fitting. Just a respectful one that she deserves.

Our goal is to lay her to rest in the following week if finances permit.

Visitation will be held at Vickers Funeral Home in Springport, MI. July 13, 6-8pm

Funeral Services will be held at Christ Apostolic Church, Albion MI. July 14, 12pm. Visitation is at 11am.

Graveside to follow service. Luncheon to follow after.
