Forrest "Tyson" Selman, my sister Amanda's husband, and the father of my niece and nephew, had an accident on Memorial weekend. While enjoying a bar-b-que "get together" with friends and their children, Tyson decided to join the kids playing in the mud puddle in their yard. Somehow, he slipped, fell, and broke a vertebrae in his neck, which changed their life in an instant.
Emergency surgery that night repaired the vertebrae, but he remains paralized from the chest down. The long term prognosis is unknown at this point. He remains in ICU, sedated, and fighting pneumonia.
