Tyson’s Medical Battle — Any Help Means Everything

On Tuesday morning, our beloved Tyson suddenly became very ill. We rushed him to a local animal hospital, where he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and sent home with anti-nausea, pain, and GI medications. But Tyson’s condition quickly worsened—he became lethargic, continued vomiting, and refused food and water. We rushed him to a 24-hour animal hospital in Summerville, but they were unable to see him due to a full schedule. Desperate, we drove to their Mt. Pleasant location, where Tyson was finally admitted to the ICU.

Tyson’s symptoms were severe: he had a fever, was severely dehydrated, his heart rate was elevated, and he was still vomiting bile and hyper-salivating. The doctors ran blood work, ultrasounds, and urine cultures, discovering an enlarged prostate, increased white blood cells and kidney values, and bacteria in his urine. Tyson spent three days in the animal hospital on IV fluids, injected antibiotics, pain meds and had to have a nasogastric tube placed to prevent further vomiting. We told the doctors to do whatever it took to get him better—Tyson has been with us since he was three months old, and he’s truly the smartest and best dog we’ve ever had. Anyone who meets him adores him, and he’s the kind of dog that leaves a mark on your heart forever.

We are so grateful to still have Tyson with us, and we can’t thank Dr. Graham, Dr. Fraser, Ms. Penny and the entire staff at BluePearl Animal Hospital Mt. Pleasant enough for their dedication. Tyson isn’t back to 100% yet, but he’s strong and fighting his way there. He is now heavily medicated 24 hours a day, multiple times a day, to support his recovery. He deserves the best chance at life, and we would do anything for him. With his inpatient care, ongoing medications, and other vet visits, our bills have become overwhelming. We were fortunate to get approved for Care Credit, but it’s nearly maxed out. Justin and I have always tried to handle things ourselves, but now we’re asking for a little help. Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward Tyson’s medical care and recovery. Your support would make us feel so appreciative, loved, and thankful. Thank you for helping Tyson get the chance he deserves.
