Tyson's Encounter With A Rattlesnake
Donation protected
Meet Tyson, loyal companion, official greeter and protector of all creatures. He's a very healthy, 11 year-old, 100% American mutt. He's logged many years hiking with his family, friends and dog mom, Lynne Benkis. While hiking on the sunny Saturday morning of August 26th, Tyson simply stepped between a rattlesnake to protect a smaller dog. He received a snake bite below his right eye. A call for help was made from the Chunky Gal Trail in Clay County, NC. Using GPS, Lynne's family, with two teenage boys, set out to rescue and carry their beloved Tyson to safety. Lynne and family have recently lost their mother/grandmother. The thought of losing another family member was devastating. Tyson was taken to the Junaluska Animal Hospital for anti-venom and treatment. He received two doses of anti-venom and is now home resting with his family. Any donation to help recover or reduce the $2,500 cost of treatment would be greatly appreciated by the family.
